How to Measure for Cowboy Boots

Cowboy boots, a popular style of footwear for decades, continue to serve as a very functional and versatile type of boot today. But finding the right size of cowboy boots is often tricky, for you must find the pair that fits just right. By following these steps, you are sure to find the perfect-fitting boot for your everyday adventures.

  1. First: Find some paper

Stand with your foot placed firmly on a piece of paper that is big enough to fit your entire foot on. If you cannot find a large enough piece of paper, try a piece of cardboard, a file folder, or any other type of paper product that you can easily draw upon.

  2. Second: Trace your foot

Draw the outline of your foot with pencil. Make sure the pencil is held perpendicular to the paper at all times and that you are holding the pencil snugly against your foot.

  3. Third: Measure your drawing

Measure the length and width of the outline of your foot. The length is how long your foot is on all sides, and the width is how wide your feet are across.

  4. Fourth: Do the math

The drawing of your foot is a little larger than your actual foot size due to the thickness of your pencil. Subtract 0.2 inches from each of your measurements to find a more accurate sizing of your foot.

  5. Fifth: Find a chart

Look up any boot length chart either in a store or online to compare your measurements to. Make sure that the chart is in US sizing, and find the closest width measurement on the chart to the measurement of your foot.
